Just because a fly rod is beautiful, durable, and affordable doesn't mean it must compromise its artistic integrity with a hefty price tag. From its superior grade Portuguese cork grips to its quality anodized aluminum or polished nickel-silver reel seats, Elkhorn rods are hand built by expert crafts people into aesthetically-pleasing works of art. Reel seat hardware varies from model to model, so you may want to call ahead and inquire as to the exact reel seat your rod has been crafted with. All one and two weight rods feature cork reel seat inserts. All three through six weight rods feature beautiful wooden inserts with buckeye burlwood, rosewood, or bloodwood. All one through six weight rods have a reverse half-wells cork grip. All 6/7 or seven weight rods and larger have an anodized aluminum reel seat and a full-wells cork grip. All rods come with a cordura nylon covered rod case with built-in dividers at no additional cost. (The Elkhorn Traveler II comes with aluminum case)

The primary differences are in the reel seat skeleton and the finish on the blank itself. The reel seat skeleton is a tough gunmetal-titanium colored anodized aluminum and have beautiful rosewood inserts (seven and eight weights have saltwater style seats with a fighting butt). These Nomad rods have a moderate action and progressive flex and are a very easy loading, smooth casting and powerful rods.

What can I say! Thumbs up for Elkhorn rods! The rods perform just as good as any Scott rod I own. I own two rods from Elkhorn, (2 Travelers) and I love them.
